Import Buyer Brief
A molded firework tube model code is a compressed specification, not an arbitrary part number. Read it correctly and you know the shot count, the block height and roughly how much container space one carton will take — before you ask for a quote. This guide breaks the code down, lists the five blocks in our current moulded range with their shot counts and dimensions, and sets out the two specifications buyers most often need to pin down: tube diameter and wall thickness.
1. What the three parts of a model code mean
Our codes follow one pattern throughout the moulded range: D<series>*<shots>F<height>H.
Taking D20*36F*180H as the example:
- D20 — the bore series. D20 denotes a 20 mm nominal bore, and it is the bore used across the five blocks listed below.
- 36F — the shot count. F stands for the number of tubes moulded into the block, so 36F means 36 tubes in one block.
- 180H — the tube height in millimetres. All blocks in our current range are 180 mm tall.
The F and H values are the two that change most of your downstream numbers: F drives your cake block layout and loading time, H drives your carton height and container fill.
Because 20 mm is a nominal bore class rather than a finished dimension, the exact finished bore, outer diameter and base depth are fixed on the mould drawing for each model. If your jig clearance or shell fit depends on those figures, ask us for the drawing of the size you are considering — we send it before you commit to tooling.
2. Our moulded range, by shot count and block size
Shot count is the fastest way to compare blocks, because it decides the block footprint. More tubes in one block means fewer blocks to handle per cake — but a larger, heavier unit that needs more space per carton.
| Model | Shots | Block size (L × W × H) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| D20*20F*180H | 20 | 156 × 131 × 180 mm | Small cakes, tight layouts |
| D20*25F*180H | 25 | 197 × 139 × 180 mm | Standard consumer cakes |
| D20*36F*180H | 36 | 238 × 155.5 × 180 mm | Mid-size cakes, higher shot count |
| D20*49F*180H | 49 | 279 × 180 × 180 mm | Large cakes, dense layouts |
| D20*100F*180H | 100 | 430 × 281.5 × 180 mm | High-count blocks, rack loading |

3. Four numbers shot count changes on your line
Two blocks can hold a similar number of tubes and still behave very differently in production. Before you commit to a shot count, check these four figures on your side:
- Block footprint. A 100-shot block occupies roughly 430 × 281.5 mm of table space. Confirm your assembly jigs and conveyor width can take it.
- Unit weight per operator lift. Higher shot counts mean heavier blocks. Check this against your manual handling limits before planning the line.
- Carton count per container. Block size drives carton size, which drives your container fill. We supply export cartons and, for full-container loads, palletising and wrapping at no extra charge.
- Changeover and tolerance. Fewer, larger blocks usually mean fewer handling steps per cake — but a deviation affects more tubes at once, so mould wear matters more.

4. Specifying tube diameter and wall thickness
Our moulded tubes are press-moulded in one shot from wood fiber, stone powder, tapioca starch and stearic acid. Away from the model code, these are the two specifications buyers most often need to pin down:
- Inner diameter: the moulded blocks above are built on the D20 / 20 mm nominal bore series. Across our wider tube lines we also produce bores from 25 mm up to 300 mm, so if your design sits outside the moulded list, tell us the bore you need and we will confirm what is available.
- Wall thickness: 3 mm to 20 mm. Thicker walls add burst margin and weight; thinner walls save freight and material.
- Tube length: up to 1.2 m, produced separately from the block height.
Wall tolerance deserves as much attention as the nominal wall, because a variable wall changes how a tube seats in a jig. If your cake needs a height other than 180 mm, tell us the finished tube height and the block height you want, and we will confirm what the mould allows. Specification and packing details for the wider range are collected on our resources page.

5. How we control the dimensions we quote
A specification is only useful if it repeats from order to order. In our plant:
- Every batch is pressure-tested before packing, and the test report ships with the goods.
- The blocks listed above are produced on stock moulds, so dimensions repeat between orders.
- Custom sizes, wall thickness and printing are available on request, subject to tooling.
On commercial terms: MOQ is 1,000 pcs per size for stock moulds, and 5,000 pcs where a custom mould is required. Samples are free, with freight collected. Pricing is quoted FOB Shanghai or Ningbo; CIF and DDP are quoted on request, and we aim to reply within 24 hours. The commercial questions we are asked most often — payment terms, lead time, packing and sampling — are answered on our FAQ page.

6. Send us two numbers for a firm quote
If you already know the shot count and the finished tube height you need, send us those two numbers plus your annual volume, and we will come back with a firm quote and a realistic lead time. If you are still comparing shot counts, tell us your cake layout and we will suggest which block fits it best.
